Moscato d'Asti, "Sori del Re"

Appellation:  Moscato di’Asti DOCG

Type:  White Sparkling

Grape Variety: 100% Moscato Bianco

Wine Details:

Tasting Notes:

Color: straw yellow brilliant with a light natural effervescence.

Bouquet:  Deep scent with a varietal note of Moscato.  Soft and sweet structure, of remarkable “richness” along development and continuous aromatic support.

Taste:  sensation of peach, pear, sage and mint that renders this wine a certain original.

Food Pairings:  The  wine  goes well with sweet and cheeses (sweet Gorgonzola and Parmigiano Reggiano).

The wine is best drunk within a year of bottling in order to preserve the typical characteristics of fragrance and freshness.


Vinyard Notes:

Production Area: Mango

Vineyards:  Sori' del Re,  an average 30-40 years old, with exposure to south at approx. 500 m (1640 ft) above sea level

Cultivation method:  low Guyot

Soil:   high percentage of tuff and marle.

Time and method of harvest:  Mid-September, manual

Yield:  The production of grape is approximately 6000 KG/ for hectare. (2.7 tons /acre)


Winemaking Notes:

Vinification:   After de-stemming and soft pressing, the grapes are held several months at low temperature (0 degrees Celsius / 32 degrees Fahrenheit) before fermentation is allowed to begin in temperature-controlled steel tanks. When the wine reaches 5.5% alcohol, the wine is cooled to stop the fermentation, and then it’s filtered and bottled. There are at least a dozen bottlings per year in order to ensure freshness.

Annual Production: 15,000 bottles
