"MADEGO"
“Madégo”, the name of the vineyard from which comes this wine, is the word in the local dialect for the second harvest of the alfalfa that was once grown on this plot of land.

Varietal Blend: 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc.
Vineyard: 260 ft above sea level with a south-easterly exposure. Density: 1,335 vines per acre. Average vines age: 20-years old.
Planting System: Modified Veronese Pergola and Spurred Cordon.
Soil:. Medium-texture of volcanic origin.
Harvest: Hand picked mid September/early October.
Yield: About 490 gallons per acre
Alcohol: 12.5%
Vinification: Fermented in stainless steel tanks for 15-20 days. Placed in aging barrels after malolactic fermentation.
Aging: 7-8 months in large (1,500 liter) casks plus 3 months in the bottle..
Tasting Notes: Color: intense ruby red with purple highlights. Moderately herbaceous on the nose with hints of oak well integrated with the berry fruit notes.Dry but rounded on the palate with a spicy aftertaste and soft tannins.
Food Pairings: Roast or grilled meats and moderately mature hard cheeses.
