Casanuova delle Cerbaie – Brunello di Montalcino Riserva
This wine with its imposing, full-bodied structure, endowed with powerful but delicate tannins, is made only with the best vintages of Brunello. Its impressive structure, is the result of a very long maceration and sophisticated refining process.

Harvest:
Vinification: Long maceration on the dregs of pressed grapes with frequent pump over. Temperature allowed to rise freely to a maximum of 33 °C.
Aging: The aged Brunello is aged approximately for another 8-10 months in French oak barrels. It spents another 6 months in the bottle before release.
Alcohol 14 % vol.
Tasting Notes: Intensely deep ruby red color with garnet nuances. On the palate is intense with rich and complex hints of violet, sweet violet, raspberry and pomegranate. Smooth, persistent with well-balanced flavors.
Serving suggestions: Uncork at least 4 hours before pouring to serve at a 18 °C.
Food Pairings: Ideal with red meats, roasts, game and aged cheeses.

Readers looking for a sumptuous, sleek Brunello should check out Casanuova delle Cerbaie’s terrific 2001 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva. A deeply-colored ruby, it possesses nuanced aromatics along with notable precision and definition in its smoke, tar, licorice, underbrush and sweet dark fruit. It will require a few years to better integrate its oak, but this delicious, poised Brunello is well worth seeking out. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2019.
