La Berta farm is located near Brisighella, a well-preserved medieval village about 15 miles from Faenza. According to historical documents the village was founded in the first half of the 13th century, around a temple that was built there during the Roman empire. The Brisighella ‘golden period: was in the renaissance when art and gastronomy reached their highest level. Nowadays two main products re bringing notoriety to this area: olive oil and wine.

The farm has an overall area of 64 acres at an elevation of  900 feet above sea level. The hilly slopes face mainly southwest. The soil is primarily made up of a mixture of sandy marl and clay. The location and the mild climate play a fondamental  in giving the grapes, Sangiovese, Trebbiano, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malvasia, a pleasant unique taste. The Estate is owned by the Giovannini family and is now run by Costantino Giovannini, third generation wine grower. The vineyards with the best exposure are planted with red grapes, mostly Sangiovese. In 1995 the Giovanninis started on a major undertaking to improve the management of the vineyard and the wine making techniques and soon after that they hired the services of reknown wine consultant  Stefano Chioccioli.
